As well as being the county town of Somerset and home to Somerset County cricket club (complete with the Ian “Beefy” Botham Stand), Taunton is also the unofficial capital of cider country. Comedian Bill Bailey even refers to a teleportation experiment sponsored by Taunton Cider in his stand up shows. Taunton is also home to 40 Commando, Royal Marines. On gentler note this beautiful town is also famed for its flower show, West Country Carnival and delightful churches such as St James, which acts as a backdrop to the County cricket ground. Famous daughters of Taunton include railway child Jenny Agutter and the original Layla, Patti Boyd, former wife of George Harrison and Eric Clapton.
