Every summer the local primary school children parade, wearing laurel garlands, for their Walking day. Walking Days are a tradition in the area, celebrating the founding of the Sunday school movement in 1784. The walks were seen as a way to get the children who worked under wretched conditions in factories six days a week to taste some freedom.
