Leyton is in East London, in the London Borough of Waltham Forest. Despite its modern urban appearance it has a rich history and has had more than its fair share of famous residents. It is in the heart of the Lea Valley, on the ‘prime meridian’ line (0° Longitude on a map) and is less than a mile away from the UK’s 2012 Olympic Park. In the future it will also be home for the exciting London Velodrome, a 6000-seater indoor cycling track, and a 6000-seater outdoor BMX racing track. Amongst its past famous residents there are Steve Harris, who is the founding member and bass guitar of rock superstars Iron Maiden, and David Beckham, international football giant.
