By the early 1800s nearly 10,000 were employed in knitwear and hosiery in the Hinckley area. In 2007 Hinckley resident Tony Alleyne, sold his one bed flat, which he had transformed into an exact replica of the Star Trek Voyager’s flight deck, for an astronomical £425,000.
