Dundalk is a town in the Irish County of Louth, close to the boundary of Northern Ireland, and is one the lowest bridging points of Castletown River. The name derives from the Irish Dun Dealgan, which means 'Dalga's fort' - home to the mythical warrior Cuchulainn who appears not only in Irish mythology but also in Scottish and Manx. Cuchulainn is often compared to the Greek hero Achilles and is said to have entered a frenzy during battle in which he appeared as a monster. Celtic folk rock band The Corrs were born and raised in the town, as was Peter Rice, the engineer who helped build the Sydney Opera House.
