The Dublin suburb of Cabra is a relatively new part of the city. Located 5 km northwest of the city centre, much of the area was built in the 1940’s as part of a building programme by Dublin Corporation. With more work to be commenced, Cabra will continue to develop in the future. There are several notable people that come from the area. Champion boxer Steve Collins, nicknamed ‘The Celtic Warrior’, was born here in 1964. He is generally considered to be one of the toughest boxers of all time and the hardest pound-for-pound fighter of the late 1990’s.
