Corringham is a beautiful small town in Thurrock in Essex. With its winding country lanes, flowered hedgerows and quaint thatched cottages, it has been made one of five conservation areas in Thurrock. Medieval Corringham was merely a church and a farm, at the edge of marshland, with a market and annual fair. The Church of St Mary’s dates from the 11th century and is a listed building, as are many here. Another is Rose Cottage, an 18th century red brick cottage. New additions have simply added to its beauty, for example, the large Cobblers Mead Lake. You would certainly be hard pressed to find somewhere as quintessentially English as here.
