The South Wales town of Bridgend sits in between Cardiff and Swansea, next to the River Ogmore. It is suggested that there were settlements here before Roman times due to several burial mounds found in the area. Three castles straddle the town: Newcastle Castle, Ogmore Castle and Benedictine Ewenny Priory formed a ‘defensive triangle’ around the area. This gave great protection to the developing market town. A 20,000-seat stadium has been proposed in the area, along with a 650-home ‘garden village’ and 1500-home sustainable village, which will continue the town’s expansion.
