Racing driver Eddie Irvine was born in Newtownards and grew up in Conlig. Irvine is now executive producing of a film about local hero, Paddy Mayne. Bangor-born TV celeb Zöe Salmon was crowned Miss Northern Ireland in 1999 (beating future Big Brother contestant Orlaith McAllister into second place).
