Located halfway between Woodbridge and Ipswich, Kesgrave has grown phenomenally in the last 100 years; in the 1920s it had just 20 houses, and now it covers over 800 acres and is one of England's newest towns having only received its township in the year 2000. In the Doomsday Book this beautiful area was known as Gressegraua, which over the years changed until in the 15th Century it became Kesgrave. Originally this was a small Danish/Saxon settlement where travellers and pilgrims could rest at the local Inn, on their way to the Marian Shrine of Our Lady of Grace in nearby Ipswich, and was also popular with Henry VIII and Katherine of Aragon.
