Folkestone is a resort town in Kent. This area of the British countryside is often known as ‘The Garden Coast’ and the town has some amazing views of the surrounding greenery. On a clear day it is even possible to see the coast of France. In the past Folkestone was a Royal holiday destination but now it is better known for being the place where the Channel Tunnel begins. Not so well known is that William Harvey, who discovered the circulation of blood, was born here in 1578 and that the town’s Harvey Grammar School was named after him. Another interesting fact is that an earthquake registering 4.2 on the Richter scale rocked the town in 2007. The quake was felt as far away as Essex.
